Heres a lil tip I got from one of our local Vets on ways to help protect your animals against Heartworms. As we all know Heartworms are a silent killer of our Beloved Fur Babies. They can and most often contract this diease from Mosquitos and the larva they lay. They can lay eggs in their water and spread the infection by biteing them. Heres 2 inexpensive ways you can help protect yours.
1. If you keep outside pets, or just keep a bowl outside for them to use take and put 1 Cap of Bleach for every 5 Gallons of water. This will help keep the mosquitos from laying eggs as they dont like the bleach and wont go in it. And it wont hurt your Pets at all.
2. Take a spoonfull of Garlic salt and sprinlke on their food. If you didnt know Mosquitos hate Garlic as well, (good tip for Humans too) this will detur them from snacking on your babies while outside too.
These are Tips I use daily on my Fur Babies so I know it works, and I know they wont hurt them either. Trust me as a person who is Sheltering 9 Dogs and 2 Cats and mine are all Free of this disease. ~~Carol~~
